On December 4, 2025, the Ministry of Women and Child Development commemorated the launch of a 100-day intensive thematic campaign marking the first anniversary of Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat at Vigyan Bhawan. The ministry invited Just Rights for Children Founder Bhuwan Ribhu to share his on-ground experience. He credited India’s progress over the past year to the nationwide implementation of the PICKET strategy, which strengthens policies, institutions, and communities, raises awareness, connects people to economic opportunities, and uses technology to track progress. He emphasized that this was made possible by public pledges and strict law enforcement, ensuring no child’s dreams, health, or education are cut short due to child marriage.
The campaign will run in three phases, each targeting a different group to prevent child marriage. The first phase engages schools and colleges to raise awareness among young people through sessions, competitions, pledges, and IEC materials. The second phase works with religious institutions and marriage-related service providers through announcements, IEC materials, and coordinated vigilance. The final phase focuses on Gram Panchayats and Municipal Wards to promote community resolutions, monitor vulnerable families, and link them to education, vocational training, and support services. Mr. Bhuwan Ribhu announced that JRC will continue supporting the ministry’s mission, aiming to make 1 lakh villages child marriage free in the coming year.
